The graduation ceremony for BS&T Class 185 was held on December 12, 2014 at the Bluemont Hotel in Manhattan, KS. The 27 participants were joined by friends, family, colleagues, and AIB staff as they received their certificates. A brunch was held in the participants’ honor after the ceremony.
Larry Marcucci, BS&T Class 117, president of Alpha Baking Company, gave the commencement address.
BEMA Excellence in Laboratory Leadership Award
Kerwin Brown, president and CEO of BEMA, presented BEMA’s Excellence in Laboratory Leadership Award. Baking professionals and baking staff chose the recipients based on the winning participants’ demonstration of leadership qualities in labs. Sean Darden (Bimbo Bakeries USA) and Seiji Ryosho (Yamakazi Baking Co., Ltd.) were selected as the winners. Both received iPads from by BEMA.
Top Five Recognitions
It is a BS&T tradition to recognize the top five students in each course. The “Top Five” for Course 185 were:
